Sheriff Robert Oglesby

Sheriff Robert L. Oglesby was born on October 2, 1958, in Jenkins County, Georgia The Oglesby Family has lived in Jenkins County for many generations. Sheriff Oglesby graduated from the Jenkins County High School in 1976. He went to work with a local mobile home manufacturer and remained there until just prior to taking office as Sheriff.

In the spring of 2008, Robert qualified for the office of Sheriff of Jenkins County. The voters of Jenkins County voted for and elected Sheriff Oglesby. He proudly took office in January of 2009. This fulfilled a lingering dream of his since his service as a Part-time Deputy under the leadership of, now deceased, Sheriff Bobby Womack from 1992 until 2004. His political platform and his heartfelt commitment is to be “A Sheriff for All of the People.” He follows this commitment each and every day. He is a full-time working Sheriff.

Sheriff Oglesby is married to Melody Cooper Oglesby since February 17, 1980. Together they have 1 son, 1 daughter, and 3 grandchildren. He is a member of the Millen Baptist Church.
